SCHOOL MEALS
School meals at present cost £1.75 per day (£8.75 per week). Dinner money is payable on the first school day of each week and should be sent in an envelope clearly marked with your child’s name, class and amount enclosed. (Cheques should be made payable to “Tameside MBC” and have your child’s name on the back). You will be invited to lunch at some time during the year.
Applications for free school meals should be made to the Local Authority.
PACKED LUNCHES
Children can bring their own packed lunch and they eat it in the hall with the rest of the children. Because it gets warm in school it is a good idea to include a cool block in your child’s lunch box.
HEALTHY SNACKS IN SCHOOL
We participate in the National Fruit Scheme. This means that all children in Key Stage 1 have fruit or vegetables, free of charge, each day at morning play. The National Fruit Scheme is not available for children in Key Stage 2 so children should bring fruit if they want to eat at morning break. No other snacks should be brought to school.
Children can have a carton of milk each day. Money is collected termly in advance and is subsided via the EU. Drinking water is available. A bottle of tap water may be brought to drink throughout the day. Fizzy drinks are not allowed.
MEDICATION
Prescription medicines will be given at lunch time where the dosage is four times a day. All administration of medicine is recorded. You must hand in the medicine at the office and complete a consent form, available in the "Parents/Forms" section of this site; children must not have responsibility for handing in medication. Inhalers etc are kept in the staffroom.
NO SMOKING ZONE
Smoking is not allowed in the buildings or in the grounds.
FIRST AID
If your child has a medical problem a Health Care Plan will be drawn up in consultation with you and the School Nurse.
We have three qualified Paediatric First Aiders on the staff and certification is renewed regularly.
Should your child feel ill at school we will contact you. Anything requiring other than cold water, or a quick sit down will be referred to you. Children who bump their head will have a letter to inform you.
